I now know why I am so hungry and feel so good after managing to run 14 miles this morning, even although now Im collapsed in front of the telly and haven’t really moved since about 18:00. Anyhow seemingly according to Dr Know It All on the BBC 1 programme Trust me I’m a Doctor, when we run long distances our bodies produce loads of natural endocannabinoids which in layman’s terms means your body produces natural cannabis which floods through your blood stream making you high as kite and starving!
Fortunately the weather is still a little warmer and as the Speedy Strider and I ran through Pollok Park the sun even came out. We managed to do six miles and when I got home I sorted out the workmen with cups of tea and hope they are finished blasting the front of the house very soon.
I went for a quick four mile run round the block and called in to the Tramway art place to get out of the rain, and spied an art exhibition all about Charlie Chaplin’s trousers and the depression, so I asked the tour guide to my photograph with the trousers and then headed home!

This morning we were joined by Mrs Challenger so we ran down to Bellahouston park and fired ourselves round the cycle track four times at a faster pace than normal. Then we played on the adult swings! Wednesday 24 January 2018
We didn’t run the hills this morning and instead we picked up the Racy Runner on Minard Road and headed to Bellahouston Park. Together we managed 4 miles and dropped her off at the Palace of Art to join her Body Balance Class. The Speedy Strider and I then headed along Nithsdale Road and I turned left along Maxwell Drive and the Speedy Strider headed for home. I had a route in my mind and absolutely delighted I managed to run 12 miles. The last two miles were really hard anyhow the wind was at my back and this helped push one leg in front of the other. When I got home I spent the rest of the day watching the telly. MrSH headed to Edinburgh and didn’t come back until 20:30 and I was still in front of the telly! Monday 22 January 2018
The outside temperature is up to 7c and the snow and ice is going, just as well really because on this mornings run I managed to wear through one of the wires on the Yak Tacks I have attached to my trainers. I put these on a few weeks ago as they stop you from sliding on ice and snow. I guess I have worn them out. Also this morning as I was running on my own I decided to go on a sight seeing tour because I have joined the FitBit Seniors Group via the iPhone app and I’ve got people commenting on the photographs I post along with the miles I do. Some of the comments are from people in America and other far flung places, so I thought this morning it would be a good idea to include The House of an Art Lover, River Side Museum and the Tall Ship. Saturdays mirror image Clyde side photos went down very well. I had over 20 hits! Saturday 20 January 2018
Thank goodness I had company running this morning because it was just so cold. I ran to the bottom of my street and The Racy Runners expected time of arrival was exactly when she said she would arrive. We then headed off for the city thinking the streets would be less icy and the air a bit warmer with all the buildings about. Anyhow that theory didn’t quite work because by the time we came out of Glasgow Green I was freezing and my legs were feeling like ice blocks as we ran along the Clyde side. Then I noticed in the river mirror images of buildings and had to stop and take a few photos because it all looked rather magical. I think it was due to the cold air and stillness. When we got back to my house I was well pleased with myself having achieved 10 miles and on target with my London Marathon training. The Racy Runner had clocked up 14 with another 4 to do has she headed off to her own house. By the time she got there I was enjoying coffee and toast! Friday 19 January 2018
We are still experiencing the big freeze and more snow is forecast anyhow it didn’t stop me going out for a 4 mile run down to Bellahouston Park and back. My intention was to do circuits round the cycle track however I couldn’t because the tack was covered in ice and looked more like and ice ring and I wasn’t wearing ice skates on my feet. Even with Yak-tracks over my trainers I was slipping all over the place so decided it was best to head for home. Wednesday 17 January 2018
With the snow still on the ground I put my yak track grips onto my trainers and along with the Speedy Strider headed out to tackle the Sherbooke Hills. We managed two loops. I then headed off to the nearest cash machine to collect enough money to pay the electrician who is coming this afternoon to fit new sockets in the kitchen. |
